Level II

Write down the secret information on a piece of paper with your name on it.  Hand the paper to your teacher when you arrive at class.  If correct you will earn euros.  Make sure you have the correct Level and lesson.  DON’T tell your classmates the secret information.

Level II
For Lesson 1 – Italians do speak faster than Americans. Because of all the vowels they have in their vocabulary Italians can speak about 300 syllables per minute. Americans speak about 200 syllables per minute.

For Lesson 2 – The Disney cruise ships Magic and Wonder were built in Italy.

For Lesson 3 – The first king in history to obtain a driver’s license was Italy’s King Victor Emmanuel in 1901. He drove an Italian car.

For Lesson 4 – Italian American cartoonist Joe Barbera and his partner Bill Hanna created cartoons such as The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear and The Jetsons.

For Lesson 5 – The mile was originally calculated by the distance Roman soldiers could march in 1,000 paces, about 4,800 feet. Today a mile is equal to 5,720 feet. Maybe the Romans had shorter legs!

For Lesson 6 – The person who first organized the study of ancient Egyptian tombs and pyramids was the Italian explorer Giovanni Belzoni in the 1800’s
